Ending

I have gotten so far behind in the Project 365.  I think I am going to let it go for a bit and try to start it again later.  It has been so difficult trying to find things to photograph when we are all cooped up in the house.  I can't wait until spring and we can be outside.

I'll still be posting pics here but I am going to end this for now.  It is still on my 101 in 1001 things to do so I will start again.

Just Couldn't Keep Up!

Hello my 6 Fabulous Followers!  Just a quick note to say that I just could not keep up with all of the photo projects.  I am just going to focus on the 365 and the Thrive.  Between my family blog, food blog, being a featured blogger on Our Krazy Kitchen and my full-time job as wife, mother, house cleaner, chauffer, etc., etc., I just could not keep up!

I also may start posting a week's worth of pics on my 365.  I forget to post them everyday.  Bad blogger.  LOL

Day 38: I Wanna Go, Too

Caleb loves his big brother and sister and always wants to be with them.  We can't chance him going up and down the stairs, though, so this is a common site around our house.

Thrive Project: Simplicity

This week's Thrive Project is talking about Simplicity.

Farmgirl Paints

Simplicity in the design and background of your pictures.  It is kind of a hard thing to capture especially when you have active kids!

For the Love-Your Loved One with a Loved One

I decided to take a picture of GracieAnn with one of her countless baby dolls.  It is really interesting to watch her play Mommy and listen to her sing the same songs her babies as I sing to mine.

For The Love-What You Love to Hate

Today's topic at the Joy of Love project over at
Willette Designs, Inc.  The topic is "What You Love to Hate" about your loved one.

Kanin has this awful habit of taking a shower and then throwing his towel on the floor.  Ugh.  The laundry basket is literally 2 steps away.  Since he is only 7, I am sure I will be dealing with this issue for a while.

Day 35: Happy 37th Birthday, Mommy!

I received this this morning when I walked down the stairs this morning.  Kanin did this on his own with no prompting from Gaga.  I just about cried.

Day 34-Can't Anyone Use a Chair?

For some reason my kids do not like to sit on furniture.  Th love to sit on this table, see Kanin's knee hanging out behind GracieAnn.  They will also figure other things to sit on.  This is a box that some office files came out of and Gracie sat on that box for about an hour.

For The Love Project-Then and Now

My sweet blog friend, Ashley, let me know about a project she is participating in at Willette Designs, Inc. , Joy of Love (click link above)

This is a great project.  Kelly will email you an assignment each day.  This project is happening everyday in February.  I got in on Day 3 in which the assignment is:

How long have you known your loved one?  What has changed since you first met him or her?  Try to capture this change in photos. it would be even cooler if you can show a photo from the time you first met him and put it side by side with a now photo. Or have your loved one hold the “Then” photo and snap the camera.

Kelly took her photo at f/2.5, SS 1/200th, ISO 2000.  My camera will only go down to f5 so that is what I used.

I decided to take a picture of my oldest son, Kanin, who is 7 holding his hospital newborn picture.

I made Kanin move to a spot where there was a white wall. settings.  You can really tell the difference.

Thrive Project: ISO and the Rule of Thirds

The topic this week with the Thrive Project is ISO and the Rule of Thirds.
Farmgirl Paints

Becky from Farmgirl Paints gives a good explanation of ISO.  She explains it like a dimmer light switch.  If you have a lot of light or you are outside, you would have the dimmer down low.  If you are in a darker room with less sunlight, you would turn the dimmer up.  The higher the dimmer (ISO) the grainier the picture becomes.  Low ISO=crisper pics.

With the Rule of Thirds, you are supposed to imagine a grid with 9 boxes.  Put the subject on one of the crosshairs.  Becky has graphics on her blog to explain.

Day 24: Finally He Looks at Me

Farmgirl Paints Thrive Project: Shutter Speed

While I was busy with some blog hops today, I found this awesome new blog Farmgirl Paints.  Becky is an uber-talented artist who artist who is currently taking a photography class.  After the photography class, she is then blogging about what she has learned and giving all of us some helpful hints.  She is calling it the Thrive Project.

This week's topic is Shutter speed.  Shutter speed, in a nutshell, is how fast your shutter opens and closes.  The longer it opens, the blurrier the picture can be.  The shorter the speed, the more crisp the picture.  On your camera, the higher the bottom number (1/30, 1/60, 1/200, etc) the faster the speed.  So 1/500 is 1/500th of a second-fast, 1/30 is 1/30th of a second-slow.

This picture was taken at 1/60s, f4.5 ISO 640
Of course, since I have NO IDEA what I am doing, this is one of the cutest looks I got from him all day.  :(

This picture was taken at 1/200s, f4.8, ISO640

I am going to continue to work on shutter speed the rest of this week.
Any comments or suggestions are definitely welcome!

Day 21: Found My Curtains

I'm Sorry

Wonderful followers~I am sorry.  I just saw that you guys have made comments.  I definitely need to figure out why I haven't been receiving them in my email.  I just wanted to let you all know that I am not ignoring you!!

The start of was is reported to be the biggest snowfall of the year.

Day 18: Summer Lovin'

I walked up to the playroom this afternoon and I found Gracie wearing this outfit.  I guess that I am not the only one who can't wait for summer to get here.

Day 17: Sleeping Baby

My poor Kanin.  He got the bug Friday night and he has been so sick ever since.  He has had fever of at least 100 (except when the Motrin takes over) around the clock since Saturday morning.  He's missed one hockey practice, one hockey game and will definitely not go to school tomorrow.

Day 16: Strep Throat, Influenza, Flu B

It has been a very rough couple of days around here.  Everyone is taking these at different times of the day.

Day 14: A Sick Boo Boo

This is a sad picture for me.  My Sweet Baby Caleb woke up sick this morning and I took him to the doctor this afternoon.  He was diagnosed with strep throat and influenza.  Poor baby!  This is pretty much what he has done all day.

Day 13: Bye, Bye Baby Hair

Today was the last day that Gracie had any baby hair.  She got her haircut and she looks like a little doll.

Day 12: All Done

We have taught all of three of our children two signs in ASL--more and all done or finished.  These two signs have helped us tremendously at meal times.

Here Caleb really gets into telling me that he is "all done."

Day 11: Snow Day Fun

The kids got some art supplies for Christmas that we just haven't had time to break out yet.  What better time to put them to use than a snow day.
